I love El Paso. For years, we’ve been letting our leaders tell us what’s wrong with El Paso instead of celebrating our community’s unique strengths. As a result of this misguided approach to economic development, our population growth has flatlined and our property tax rates are among the highest in the nation.
Our population growth is stagnant, yet the city’s debt keeps rising. On top of that, because the city is throwing money at expensive vanity projects, there’s no money left for things that matter. Things like street maintenance, and public safety. The things that really matter for Quality of Life.
Our elected officials won’t address any of these important issues, because they’re in too deep. It’s time for a change. It’s time to put someone on City Council who will stand up for the taxpayers.
