. . . and not his campaign donors. The people of El Paso do not want to spend $180 million on an arena. So why does City Council think it’s a good idea?
On more than one occasion I’ve heard members of past City Councils maintain that our system of government is not a democracy.
“It’s a representative democracy,” they said. As though the people gave them authority to do what they thought best, regardless of what their constituents wanted.
Like when Representative Sam Morgan claimed that he couldn’t explain his decision on TIRZ 12 because of what he called “Operational Security.”
A Representative’s job is to represent. The people. His constituents. Voters, taxpayers, and citizens.
This election, you have a chance to take back your city. Make the right choice.
